Protest Brooch Making Workshop - Wednesday, January 28, 6-7:30PM
Make a brooch to show your strength against escalating I.C.E. activity in Minnesota! Pin your brooch to your hat, coat, sweater, etc. to wear out and about in your community or to your next protest. Sample brooch pictured here; you can customize yours! Brooches will be brass or copper, choose your own slogan. Extra brooches made during the event will be sold with all proceeds going to mutual aid and/or legal aid to those affected.
WHAT: Gather with a small group at Sophie’s Minneapolis studio for a peaceful crafting activity. We will come together to process, reflect, and discuss tools for moving forward and protecting our immigrant communities while making a brooch in metal to take home and wear with pride.
WHEN: Wednesday, January 28, 6:00-7:30PM
Spots are EXTREMELY limited due to studio capacity. This event is first-come-first-serve. Once this date fills up, you will be able to join a waitlist to be notified for future opportunities.
WHERE: SE Como Neighborhood of Minneapolis. You will receive the address with entrance instructions via email after registration.
PURPOSE: A fun, relaxing gathering in a safe space for productive art activity and discussion.
WHAT THIS IS NOT: This event is not a formal training or protest. This event is not a metalsmithing class!
COST: $25 flat rate. This fee covers materials and equipment costs. Tips to compensate for Sophie’s time and space are appreciated via Venmo at @sophia-kissin, but not necessary!
*OPTIONAL* DONATION TO BRING TO THE EVENT: Please bring a donation of one or more of the following items with you to the event:
non-perishable food items (preference for items that don’t require cooking)

beef jerky/meat sticks
handwarmers
first aid kits
masks
Sophie will drop off donations at Pow Wow Grounds Coffee following the craft session!
