Summer Accessory Layering, Part 3: Arm Party

It’s part three of the Summer Layering series, where we are coming up with styling ideas that beat the heat! You can’t layer your clothing, so layer your accessories. This week, we’re talking bracelets!

I believe the phrase ‘arm party’ was coined by Leandra Medine in the hey-day of since-discontinued blog Man Repeller. This playful phrase stuck with me. In college I stacked my arms with bangles and bracelets that jangled and flew all over the place. I once raised my hand in class and a few bangles went flying across the room. I was embarrassed, but undeterred from future arm parties.

So, what do we mean by ‘arm party’? Layer and stack your bracelets on your wrists. And assuming you have two arms, you might as well deck them both out!

Ideas for Bracelet layering

Try layering a cuff bracelet like the crux cuff or the Ninlil cuff with a chain bracelet. I love wearing the chain link choker as a bracelet by wrapping it around the wrist twice and clasping wherever to fit. Try adding color with a beaded bracelet!

Similar guidelines apply for bracelet layering as they do for necklace layering. Try different colors, chain types, beads, cuffs and bangles.

The ninlil cuff from the hayhay collection is a perfect building block for your arm party.

crux cuffs in mixed metals can layer with themselves!

chain link choker as a bracelet! Ingenious!
