The Squiggle Edit

Ok yeah, so I make a lot of jewelry with squiggles. Can you blame me? But what’s great about that is it makes for very easy jewelry layering. Since all of these pieces on their own are quite minimal, piling them on top of each other to reckless abandon makes for a cohesive, cool lewk. Big factors in this look are asymmetry and mixed metals. Is there a method to the madness? Not sure. Watch and learn.

I start with a single squiggle ear climber in 14k gold-fill. In my cartilage piercing, I was already wearing the silver triangle hoop from the geometric cartilage hoops set.

Next is the silver squiggle slide earring in the lowest lobe piercing. I like to keep the largest/longest earrings in my lowest piercing to frame the face. Then to keep it asymmetrical, I put the silver slide in my second lobe piercing on the opposite ear.

Then in goes the gold squiggle slide earring into the lobe. I have been wearing the mixed metal double squiggle slide earrings like this almost every day lately. Love it!

Back to the other ear now. Above the cartilage piercing, I’m slipping on the small squiggle ear cuff in gold. The cuff in the small size I find works best for the upper ear cartilage, though everyone’s ears are different! Experimentation required and encouraged.

Opposite ear again: I live for the double conch cuff! These are the large squiggle ear cuffs. They are made of thicker stock metal and the circumference is slightly larger than the small version.

I like to alternate metal colors as I stack so that the line-up of jewels on the ear reads gold/silver/gold/silver. I think it adds dimension and helps create a successful mixed metal look.

Top it all off with some squiggles on my schnoz. I chose the Ripple bridge cuff because I like how the long squiggle on the sides of the nose echos the long squiggles framing my face.

What do you think? Squiggle success or squiggle storm?
