Bubble Pigtails with Crux Barrettes

You all loved this look I posted in my Instagram stories last week, and I was really excited to innovate a new way to use my barrettes. So, here’s a new tutorial for your enjoyment!

I don’t know what these are called (or if they have a name at all??), but I have named them bubble pigtails. Since you are going to be decorating the hair at the elastic with a small barrette, I recommend using the thin, clear rubber elastics so they don’t show as much and they aren’t super thick and clunky. If I wanted to spend more time on this, I could have wrapped a bit of hair around each elastic to hide it entirely. Maybe I’ll do that in another tutorial.

  1. Make a ponytail and then create the bubbles by securing hair with elastics in equal segments down the pony. I used three elastics to create two bubbles.

  2. Slide the barrettes into the hair vertically at each elastic. These barrettes have grippy zig-zags that I fold help secure them in place around the elastic.

  3. A little pulling and ruching each bubble, and boom! A super cute and quirky lewk!
